"My name is Anne-Marie and I am a teacher. I’m also in charge of the Christian group called GIG (God is Good) at our school – Alexandra High School – in Pietermaritzburg. We used the Alpha Youth Film Series on our Annual GIG camp. 57 teenagers went on this camp with 8 group leaders. The age of the teens ranged from 13-19.
The Youth Alpha Film Series is absolutely fantastic! The pupils loved it and a few of them even said that it was their best part of camp. I really feel that the Lord showed me that this was what He wanted us to do for camp and it worked out so well. Debbie Garner was an amazing help in getting going with the youth Alpha – I am so thankful for her input.
We showed five of the films and had really good discussion times on camp. I really believe that the Lord has used this in the lives of these precious young people.
I have also run Youth Alpha straight after the camp on a Monday afternoon, and at lunch breaks on a Tuesday – which is the normal GIG slot - with the idea that those from camp, as well as others, would come along. I was allowed to show the Intro clip during Assembly and posters went up all over school. Getting children to attend on a Monday after school has been more of a challenge than I thought it would be but I will continue to run with the series – even if there are only a few teens who attend at a time – I know it is worth it.
Yours faithfully
Anne-Marie Smith"
