At last! Alpha has been translated into isiZULU! While no DVD is available as yet, the talk transcripts are available freely in electronic form.
For the 4th year in a row, KZN has seen many churches uniting to run Alpha Courses simultaneously as part of city-wide / area-wide Invitations (large-scale media blitz) in the 3rd term.2014 will see an even bigger Invitation, with the media blitz scheduled for the week beginning 21 July 2014, with Intro dinners starting thereafter. Do join in this great portrayal of unity and outreach The Alpha KZN office is currently based in Pietermaritzburg. PMB has recently seen a number of churches brand new to Alpha go through training and become excited for what Alpha can do in the lives of so many. In Durban and all along the highway area churches joined in the Invitation for the first time. We look forward to seeing more churches from the South Coast and Northern Natal take up Alpha! The following from Kyle Driver, our Youth Alpha coordinator
God gave me a vision in April 2013 to hire Newlands Rugby Stadium for 2015 and pack it out with young people and see transformation come to our city, our young people are in trouble!!!!!!! Youth Transformation Africa, with the help of great people like Barry Isaacs and Graham Power, managed to secure the stadium for 27 April 2015. I then made contact with Alpha Western cape and said we have to partner which means that the follow-up to this big event in 2015 would mean that we would roll out Youth Alpha in every area, township or community in Cape Town and see Cape Town be transformed and every youth alpha start on the same date. Alpha in Prisons has increased the number of Western Cape courses by 36% from 14 to 19. According to the official government statistics 1507 Western Cape prisoners attended an Alpha course in the last 12 months! We have been given permission to run Alpha in the juveniles section of two prisons; one in Pollsmoor and one in Drakenstein. There is also a training event scheduled for mid-August, where the 5 Correctional facilities in the Voorberg area will come together and will be trained in running Alpha at their respective facilities. The cost of putting 1 client through Alpha in correctional facilities equals about R200.00 and has been made possible because of your incredible generosity. A remarkable return on investment when you consider that the re-offending rate for offenders that do not do Alpha is 78% within two years. Whereas ex-offending rates fall by as much as 70% where the Alpha course is completed! Apart from the fulfillment of the Great Commission, the transformation both in the individual and in society whereby the taxpayer is saved over R10,000 per month in the costs of keeping just one offender in prison, is tremendous.
The number of courses in townships have increased by 143% from 7 to 17 since the appointment of a Township Coordinator. JL Zwane Presbyterian church proposed that we partner with them and two other local churches to find 12 unemployed young people in Gugulethu. We then train them to run Alpha Youth courses at the same time as giving them leadership mentoring. These “Alpha soldiers” can then be an army spreading Alpha Youth through schools and churches right through the township. In order to realise this dream we need to find sponsors who will fund R1,000 per month for a year as a stipend for each of the youth. The churches will fund all of the other costs.

Alpha Johannesburg is currently working on developing the greater Johannesburg area, we are focusing on 8 sub-regions over the next few months to unpack this project. We have started with Joburg North and Soweto as our first two regions and we have begun implementing a plan going forward and are putting it into action.
