My life has been totally transformed as a result of attending Alpha and I hope that someone may be drawn to attend Alpha with a similar outcome, by hearing this testimony.
In January 2012 I was in a very dark place - I got no joy doing the things that once excited me. In 2010 I had sold my shares in a business I had run for 10 years to semi-retire but I did not get paid out. After running my own business for nearly 20 years I had to look for employment at the age of 58. I was consumed with the past, my mind was a mess and I was not a pleasant person to live with. I knew that if my wife had a choice she would have left me. I concluded that life was not worth living and that I was worth more dead than alive. I decided to commit suicide.
I organised my insurance policies and acquired a poison which induces a heart attack and is almost impossible to trace after 24 hours. I planned to take it on my next business trip to Mozambique - scheduled to be at the end of February 2012. In January 2012 an old friend phoned my wife and I and asked us if we would like to attend Alpha because his home group was running it on a Monday night from his home - I was not really interested but my wife had started going to a Bible study group which was started by one of her friends and she said that she was keen and so I agreed.
