Fun, intellectual, fresh, caring and love are only a few of the words which I can use to describe my Alpha experience. In early January this year, I made a conscious decision to make an attempt to allow God back into my life. I started by attending Catholic mass on Sunday evenings but I felt this wasn’t working and I desperately needed something else.
At the end of a mass, when the parish bulletin was read, the Alpha team shared a video about Alpha with the congregation. My brother, his wife, my fiance' and a friend were all at mass that day and the video just hit home for all five of us. This was the opportunity our spirits were seeking.
After mass that evening we spoke with a member of the Alpha team who gave us a description of what it was all about and invited us to the first talk. The message was warm and caring and the invite was open and free.
At the first Alpha session we were surprised to see such a large turnout of people seeking God and answers to spiritual questions, just like ourselves. We were not alone but seated among like-minded individuals and business professionals sharing the same mind set.
Alpha continued for weeks, with every new lesson and discussion as interesting as the ones before. Through sharing in our groups we made new friends and our relationship with God and Jesus grew ever so stronger. Alpha was a caring and loving experience, through sharing our experiences my bond with God grew stronger, my relationships at work, outdoors and with my family and friends improved and I have so much more time and love for my brothers and sisters of God.
We have recommended Alpha to various family and friends and I pray that one day they are eached pulled in the direction of Alpha or something similar - Michael Teixeira
