“I’m a late 50’s guy and
for most of my life I’ve been anti-religion. I’m a scientifically based person
and didn’t see a place for religion in life. My son had been praying for me
for years and we just weren’t interested for such a long time. But he tried one
more time and invited my wife and I to an Alpha Course and amazingly we said
yes. It may have had something to do with the fact that we said we’d only come
if we could bring a bottle of wine and they said that would be OK. We enjoyed
the course and were allowed to be ourselves. On the weekend away I realised
that Jesus is alive and that he is God and that has changed everything in our
lives. We are now quite involved in church life and love it. Alpha contains
such a simple but powerful message. I haven’t had a brain operation but it
